Lincoln
City – A
Great
Place to Walk the Pacific Ocean's Sandy Beach
The
beach is just the beginning – try the open space trails too
Lincoln
City has 7.5 miles of sandy beach for walking. In 2010 Lincoln City has
two year-round
10k volkssport walks starting at a new start location - the Cozy Cove
Beach Front Resort Inn, 515 NW Inlet Ave. Off Oregon
Coast Hwy 101. Park at "D River State Wayside". Restrooms at Wayside.
Walk half block across D River Bridge, turn left 2nd St, then right to Motel.
Do not park at Motel lot while walking. (OK for Registration) Registration
box is in Motel lobby. One walk is around town and the other is on the beach.
Free unless you want IVV credit! Sign in at the motel and pick up a free
map, then park at the D River Wayside.
See www.ava.org or www.walkoregon.org/ for
more information about
non-competitive walks. Over the years thousands have participated in
Lincoln City volkswalks – from every state and several countries.* The
walks
are a great introduction to Lincoln City. Volkssport walks can be found
at many cities and
sites along the Oregon Coast.
Lincoln City Parks and Recreation is working on a trail through town called
the
Head to Bay
Trail – hopefully running from the north end of town to Siletz Bay through
several Lincoln City
open spaces and providing a walking venue when the beach is stormy and windy.
* International
Volkssport members of the IVV include Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China,
Czech Republic, Denmark,
Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain,
Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxemborg, Netherlands,
Norway,
Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, SlowakRepublic, Southern Tyrol,
Turkey, and USA,
plus 23 direct member clubs. See www.ivv-web.org/
